Photography Award 2017 Print

This is the eigth Inspirational Arts Photography Award.  When we established the award in 2009, we wanted to give something back to graduating students of photography who supported us then (and continue to support us now). We wanted to encourage new graduates of photography as they take the first difficult steps in their careers after college. The award provides an acknowledgment of their achievements, a showcase for their photography outside of the college context and an entry on their CVs.

Eight years later, we are delighted that the award is held in such high esteem and we hope it will continue to help graduates of photography in the early stages of their careers.

The award is open to all final year students on the BA Photography programmes at

·      Dublin Institute of Technology

·      Griffith College Dublin

·      Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Dun Laoghaire

·      Limerick Institute of Technology

Entry is automatic and is based on the students' work presented in the Graduate Exhibition of each of the participating colleges.

We invite a leading member of the photography community in Ireland to judge the graduate work and to nominate one student from each college to go forward to the final Award Ceremony and Exhibition. This year we are delighted that Ángel González, Director of the PhotoIreland Festival and of The Library Project, Dublin, has agreed to judge the award on our behalf.

The four nominated candidates for this year’s award are invited to show their work in a group exhibition at The Library Project, Temple Bar, Dublin from Thursday 5th October to Sunday 22nd October.
